The Ashes Barns Wedding Photographer
A look at a real wedding day at The Ashes Barns Country House Wedding Venue
What is a wedding day like at The Ashes Barns?
If you're planning your wedding at The Ashes Barns, you're probably wondering what your day might actually look and feel like.
So rather than simply telling you about the venue, I thought I'd show you.
This is Rebekah & Sam's wedding, a proper autumn celebration with beautiful surroundings, a little bit of rain dodging, some brilliantly chaotic group photos and fantastic live music throughout the day.
But more than anything, it was a day about people. The love, the laughter and the incredible family and friends surrounding these two made it something really special.
Getting ready at Highfield House
The wedding day started at Highfield House, a nearby AirBNB, with all the anticipation, excitement and little moments that build up before the main event.
There's something lovely about those early hours of a wedding. The final preparations, the people closest to you all in one place, and that feeling that you're about to experience something you'll remember for the rest of your life.
They're moments that can easily pass in a blur, but they're a big part of the story too.
The wedding at The Ashes Barns
And then it was time to celebrate at The Ashes Barns.
One of the things I love about photographing weddings is that no two days ever feel quite the same. You can plan everything down to the last detail, but it's the people, the atmosphere and all the little unexpected moments that make a wedding uniquely yours.
For Rebekah and Sam, there was plenty of laughter, an incredible amount of love and a group of family and friends who were determined to make it a day to remember.
Autumn surroundings and a little rain dodging
Autumn weddings have a character all of their own. The colours, the atmosphere and that slightly unpredictable British weather all become part of the story.
We had some beautiful autumn surroundings to work with, alongside a bit of rain to dodge along the way.
But that's real wedding life. Things don't always go exactly to plan, and they don't need to. You make the most of what's in front of you, enjoy the day and let the photographs tell the story as it actually happened.
The group photos... absolute chaos!
Every wedding has its moments, but some group photographs deserve a section of their own.
Rebekah and Sam's were some of the most chaotic and funniest I've ever taken. Getting everyone together, keeping things moving and trying to get the photographs sorted while everyone is having a laugh is all part of the fun.
Group photographs are important. They're the people who came together to celebrate with you, and years from now, you'll be glad you have those faces together in one place.
They don't have to be stiff, awkward or take over the day, either. A little organisation, a bit of patience and a willingness to embrace the chaos usually does the trick.
The people who make a wedding
For all the beautiful surroundings and the photographs of the venue, what really made this wedding special was the people.
The love, laughter and support surrounding Rebekah and Sam were something else. You could feel just how much they meant to everyone around them, and how much everyone wanted to be there celebrating with them.
There were also some lovely moments to remember Jayne, making sure she was part of the day in her own special way.
It's moments like these that remind me why wedding photography matters so much. The photographs aren't just about how everything looked on the day. They're about the people who were there, the connections you share and the memories you want to hold on to.
Autumn Decor & The Little Details
The autumn styling at The Ashes Barns was beautiful, with seasonal touches bringing warmth and character to the day. 🍂 From the gorgeous decor to all the little details that made everything feel personal to Rebekah and Sam, it all came together perfectly.
One detail I particularly loved was their gorgeous personalised bottle from Once Upon A Bottle By Millie. Such a thoughtful little touch, and a lovely reminder that it's often the personal details that make a wedding feel truly yours.
The celebrations, the music and the party
And what a soundtrack this wedding had.
With fantastic live music throughout the day, the atmosphere was brilliant from start to finish. From the acoustic music to the evening band, there was no shortage of entertainment.
Live music brings a different kind of energy to a wedding. It gives people something to gather around, sing along to and dance to, creating those moments that make the evening every bit as memorable as the ceremony itself.
These are the moments I love documenting, the big celebrations, the little interactions and all the things that happen when everyone relaxes and gets properly involved.
And that's a wedding day at The Ashes Barns.
Rebekah and Sam's wedding was a brilliant reminder that the best weddings aren't necessarily the ones where everything goes perfectly to plan.
They're the ones filled with people who love you, laughter you can't quite contain, music you want to dance to and memories you'll talk about for years afterwards.
The autumn setting was beautiful, the group photographs were gloriously chaotic and the music was fantastic.
But above all, it was the people who made this day what it was.
Having photographed this family’s celebrations before, I'm incredibly grateful to have been trusted to capture another special moment in their lives. Being invited back to document another chapter for a family is a privilege I never take for granted.
Rebekah and Sam, thank you for having me. What a wedding.
Looking for a wedding photographer at The Ashes Barns?
If you're getting married at The Ashes Barns and want wedding photographs that capture more than just how the day looked, I'd love to hear from you.
My approach is relaxed, friendly and focused on the things that matter most. The people, the atmosphere, the big moments and all the little ones in between.
No awkward posing all day, no turning your wedding into a photoshoot. Just beautiful photographs, a relaxed experience and a story that feels like yours.
I photograph weddings across Staffordshire, Shropshire and the wider Midlands, capturing the celebrations as they naturally unfold.
Let’s work together.
THE EXPERIENCE MATTERS TOO
Why couples choose me?
A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO GETS IT
Your wedding isn't a production, and it shouldn't feel like one. There’s direction when it’s needed, but never a script to follow. Knowing when to step in and when to let things happen is all part of it.
A CALM HEAD
Weddings rarely go exactly to plan, and that's alright. Knowing what needs to happen, when it needs to happen and when to simply leave things alone is all part of the job.
PHOTOGRAPHS WITH FEELING
The photographs should look great, but they should also take you straight back to the people, the laughter, the nerves, the ridiculous moments and everything that made the day yours.
SOMEONE YOU'LL LIKE HAVING AROUND
You'll spend a lot of your wedding day with your photographer, so getting on matters. The aim is simple: make you feel comfortable, have a proper laugh, take great photographs and let you get on with enjoying the day.
REAL COUPLES. REAL WORDS.

"A thoroughly nice person and I consider him an integral part of making our wedding so special"
Not only is Jamie an incredibly talented photographer, he has a real way with people and it felt like having another friend at our wedding.
He went above and beyond on our wedding day and was so helpful to have around. He has a very calming presence and when organising group shots he was very efficient and made it lots of fun.
He is also a thoroughly nice person and I consider him an integral part of making our wedding so special.
